Making of sculpture (base)

This was the very haphazard making of the base for my sculpture. Initially, I wanted to make the whole sculpture out of clay since I'm already experienced in creating clay sculptures. However, I realised it would take too much material to make a sculpture, measuring the full length of my torso, fully out of clay. Then I decided to create a wooden frame, followed by a paper mache base for which would shape most of the structure. After this I covered in modroc so that the clay had something to cling onto when I shaped the details. Unfortunately, the clay cracked quite a bit due to drying too fast so I improvised and poured plaster over it which actually turned out way better than I had hoped!
